PUBLIC SAFETY

Shelby Township is a great place to live and work because of the outstanding people and services provided by our Shelby Township Police and Fire Departments. As Trustee, Lisa will continue to support all Public Safety departments for continued operation at the highest levels by ensuring:

  • Staffing levels and resources are aligned with current and future needs.

  • Safety training remains current.

  • Support is provided without raising taxes.

BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN SAFETY

Research shows that the number of people walking and biking is increasing. Safe bicycle and pedestrian networks support our quality of life by increasing access to the township’s beautiful parks, trails, green space, restaurants, gyms and shopping centers.  As Trustee, Lisa's efforts have resulted in:

  • Finalization of the Iron Belle Trail local connector design at township savings of $11.5 million.  The local connector will provide township residents easy access to River Bends Park, Gene Shepard Park, the Macomb Orchard Trail, and the Iron Belle Trail.

  • Residents needs and concerns being considered in sidewalk planning and installation.

  • 6,000 feet of sidewalk installation completed in 2019 and over 9,000 feet of sidewalk installation planned for 2020.

  • Outreach to the Utica Schools Superintendent and MCDR (Macomb County Department of Roads) to work toward a safe mid-block pedestrian crossing to Eisenhower Senior High School and Malow Junior High School.

  • Progress toward safe pedestrian access to Mae Stecker Park, the Library, Heritage Garden and the Township Hall via a crossing at 24 Mile Road & Wolf Drive along with a sidewalk extension from Maris Drive.

ROADS

Prioritization of road repair and reconstruction ensures our community has some of the best roads in Macomb County.  As Trustee, Lisa:

  • Voted to commit $8.3 million toward a $20 million road program that includes 10 projects that were slated for 2019 and six for 2020.

  • Voted to approve an agreement with MCDR (Macomb County Department of Roads) to provide intersection improvements at 23 Mile Road and Shelby Parkway.

FISCAL DISCIPLINE

Township services and infrastructure continue to improve with NO tax increases.  During her tenure as Trustee, Lisa has worked to ensure:

  • New $11.2 million library will be complete in May of 2021 with NO tax increase.

  • Township projects are completed at or under budget.

  • Shelby Township maintains one of the lowest tax rates in Macomb County.

QUALITY OF LIFE

To help Shelby Township remain an outstanding community in which to live, raise families and work, Lisa will work tirelessly to ensure:

  • Single family homes are prioritized over high-density dwellings and duplexes.

  • The new Shelby Township Activities Center maintains and expands their programming for residents of all ages, especially Seniors.

  • Safe pedestrian and cyclist access to our beautiful parks, trails, amenities and neighborhoods.
